A fisherman jumped the season this week by wetting his line in Frenchmen’s Cove on Lake L’Homme Dieu. The ice is retreating, thanks to warm temperatures that hit the 70s Tuesday. Today, Friday, is the last day to enter the Echo Press Ice Out Contest. Entry forms must be received at the newspaper office or dropped off by 5 p.m. The person who correctly guesses when the ice will be gone will win a $50 gift certificate from Pete’s County Market. A drawing will be held in case of a tie.
