KIKV-FM Radio in Alexandria is a finalist for a national award.
Omni Broadcasting’s country formatted station is in the running for the 2010 Crystal Radio Award of the National Association of Broadcasters. The national organization uses the award program to recognize radio stations for their constant commitment to exemplary community service.
KIKV is listed along with KB101-FM in Bemidji, another of the community service minded stations owned by Omni Broadcasting.
The list includes some of the largest radio stations in the country, including KSTP-FM in Minneapolis, KGO in San Francisco, WGN in Chicago and KOA in Denver.
KIKV is one of only five Minnesota radio stations on the list of 50 finalists.
The finalists were chosen by judges who represent broadcasting, community service organizations and public relations firms.
Finalists will be honored and winners announced at an event scheduled for April 13 during the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) annual convention in Las Vegas.
