Ralph was born April 15, 1938 in Alexandria to Edward and Helen (Bergan) Daniels. He attended District #83 and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1956. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1960.
Ralph proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1972 as a weapons systems officer. He served two tours in Vietnam, flying 238 missions and receiving numerous medals and commendations for his courage and bravery. Ralph continued to serve his country in the United States Air National Guard with the 179th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in Duluth until 1991, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.
Ralph worked in Little Falls at the Little Falls Machine Company for several years before returning to the family farm. Ralph loved flying, big machinery, his trucks and his dogs. He belonged to the Pioneer Power Club and was on the board of directors of Lake Region Co-op. He always enjoyed going to auctions and farm equipment shows.
He is survived by his sister, Virgene Frazier of Alexandria; several cousins, and many friends.
A memorial service was held Friday, March 19 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Nelson with the Rev. Barbara Lund-Thompson officiating. Caryl Nack played the organ. Inurnment was at Nelson Cemetery.
