Jefferson High School orchestra students recently participated in the Region 8AA String Solo/Ensemble Contest
The event was held in Alexandria on February 24.
Students are judged on tone quality, intonation, rhythm accuracy, balance and blend, technique, musicianship, etc.
The students are then given a rating. The ratings (in order) are Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor.
All of Alexandria’s participants received either an Excellent or Superior rating. Following are the results:

• Rainbow Strings Chamber Orchestra
• Violin Quartet – William Sieling, Brenna Bast, Gretta Lee, Samantha Steidl.
• Viola Duet – Samantha Steidl, Marit Aaseng.
• Violin Solo – Brenna Bast.
• Violin Solo – Nicholas Poser.
• Viola Solo – Marit Aaseng.
• Bass Solo – Erik Larson.
Excellent rating:
• String Quartet – Mary Beth Haglin, Crosbee Olson, Samantha Steidl, Jayne Haglin.
• Violin Duet – Brenna Bast, Gretta Lee.
• Violin Duet – Noelle Burreson, Kirsten Lusty.
• Viola Duet – Samantha Thompson, Amanda Peck.
• Violin Solo – William Sieling.
• Violin Solo – Jordan Arel.
• Violin Solo – Crystal Bosek.
• Cello Solo – Emma Sieling.
