Eleanor “Elly” Eileen Bigger, 84, died March 4, 2010 at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

Eleanor “Elly” Eileen Bigger, 84, died March 4, 2010 at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. She had been a resident at Knute Nelson since October 2009.

Eleanor was born June 14, 1925 to Harold and Linnea (Olson) Way in Abingdon, Illinois. They made their home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, where Elly graduated from high school in 1943.

Elly was married to Charles “Chuck” Bigger on August 28, 1955. They made their home in rural Frazee until moving to Frazee in August 1957 until 1997 when Chuck passed away and Elly went to live with her daughter.

You could stop by their home any time for coffee and cookies or cake. They always had a large garden and produce to spare. They both loved to hunt and fish.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne (Dan) Conley of Alexandria; son, David Bigger of Cottage Grove; two granddaughters, Kailey and Kelsey Bigger of Woodbury; many nieces and nephews, including Cindy, Jeff and his wife, Julie, all of Alexandria.

Elly was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; and her brother, Ken, of Augusta, Georgia.

The funeral service will be Friday, March 12 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Frazee. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Knute Nelson and also Douglas County Hospital for their special care of Elly.
