In its continuing effort to be a better newspaper, the Echo Press is calling for volunteers to serve on its reader advisory board.
There are four openings right now on the 12-member board. Anyone in Douglas County who is willing to share his or her ideas and suggestions for improving the newspaper is invited to apply.
The group meets informally, every other month over lunch, to talk about the Echo Press – what members like about it, what they don’t like, why the newspaper makes the decisions it makes, how the newspaper can be improved and other ideas.
Members also share suggestions about stories or photos they’d like to see in the newspaper.
Echo Press Editor Al Edenloff leads the group.
“The board has accomplished a lot,” Edenloff said. “We’ve received many great story ideas and honest feedback about the paper. Many of the board’s suggestions have been put into action.”
Young people are especially encouraged to join the group, Edenloff said.
“We want to involve a good cross-section of the community and that includes teens and young adults who are still in school,” Edenloff said.
Anyone local resident interested in serving on the advisory board should contact Edenloff at (320) 763-3133, e-mail editor@ echopress.com or mail Echo Press, Attn: Editor, P.O. Box 549, Alexandria, MN 56308.
