“The Heart of Wadena Churches Goes Out to Haiti” gourmet brunch fundraiser will be held the next two Sundays at Harvest Thyme Bistro in Wadena.
Tickets are available for three one-hour settings from 11 a.m. to noon, noon to 1 p.m. and 1-2 p.m. on Feb. 28 and March 7. The cost of tickets represents only the cost of the food, said Del Moen, chairman of the Wadena Ministerial Association. Derek and Sheri Olson, co-owners of the Bistro, are donating their labor and overhead costs.
“It’s the kind of fundraiser I like — good food involved,” Moen said.
Four entrees will be served. Those who purchase tickets will indicate whether they want 1/4 chicken, ham steak, eggs Benedict or build your own omelette. Two sides will be served with the meals.
A free-will offering will be taken at the event with all the money distributed directly to the Haitian people by the Salvation Army, Moen said. Cash donations can be made or checks made out to the Salvation Army with Haiti in the memo line.
Churches in Wadena have already been given the opportunity to participate in the fundraiser and Moen wants the community to know the Sunday brunch fundraiser is open to them as well, he said. Tickets are available at the Bistro in downtown Wadena.
