Gymnasts end season at section
The Cards' Jess Ollman was named the assistant coach of the year in 8AA
The Cardinal gymnastics team ended its season Saturday in St. Cloud at the Section 8AA meet, finishing ninth with a 122.7.
“Our girls looked sharp and did incredibly awesome final routines for the year,” said head coach Sue Thelen.
Leading the way for Alexandria was Sarah Dolan, who posted an 8.7 on the vault, with Sarah Sater posting an 8.33, Anna Spanbauer an 8.3 and Rachel Sjostrand a 7.98.
On bars, Sater led the Cards with a 7.34, Sjostrand had a 7.15, Jenna Kremer a 7.1 and Dolan a 7.03. Jenna Kremer added a 7.1 and Tayler Kaufman a 6.6.
Dolan was the leader on the beam as well with a 7.8, with Sater scoring a 7.5, Sjostrand a 7.1 and Alyssa Jorud a 6.75.
On floor, Spanbauer posted an 8.5, Sater an 8.33, Dolan a 7.98 and Sjostrand a 7.6.
Sater finished the all-around with a score of 31.5, while Dolan scored a 30.7 and Sjostrand a 29.83.
“Kaitlin Rice also performed floor and beam for us, and Jenna Steffl was scheduled to perform floor, but hurt her knee prior to our rotation,” added Thelen.
The Cardinals’ assistant coach Jess Ollman was recognized as the Section 8AA assistant coach of the year along with Moorhead’s Toni Kleber as head coach of the year.
