Central Lakes Symphony Orchestra

The Central Lakes Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to perform this Sunday, February 21 at Discovery Middle School.

The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available at Carlson Music in Alexandria, from any orchestra member or at the door.

The recently formed community orchestra, under the direction of Brad Lambrecht, boasts about 70 members from around the community and beyond, Alexandria, Brandon, Glenwood, Villard, Osakis, Fergus Falls, Miltona and other areas.

The group will perform “The Planets,” with selections from Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra; Puccini’s Mio Bambino Caro featuring vocal soloist Lisa Blevins; and Holst’s The Planets: Mars, Bringer of War; Venus, Bringer of Peace; and Jupiter, Bringer of Jollity.

This is the group’s second concert since it came together last fall. Their first concert was in December.

Central Lakes Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit organization with a board of directors. The board members are Joelle Burreson, chair; Karen Erickson, Patricia Jensen, Larry Ortloff and Jacob Stone.

Anyone age 16 or older interested in being a part of the group is welcome to attend rehearsals, which are held Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Jefferson High School band room in Alexandria.

Donations are being sought to assist with rehearsal space rental, expenses associated with organizing a non-profit, purchasing music rights, etc.
