Letter - Commit a random act of kindness
A simple gesture, a kind word, or a random act of kindness can go a long way. The Alexandria Kiwanis Club is sponsoring the 14th annual Random Act of Kindness Week, February 21-27, in an effort to bring awareness to the power of kindness.
To the editor:
A simple gesture, a kind word, or a random act of kindness can go a long way.
The Alexandria Kiwanis Club is sponsoring the 14th annual Random Act of Kindness Week, February 21-27, in an effort to bring awareness to the power of kindness.
Acts of kindness have as much power and are as contagious as acts of anger and violence. We hope everyone will purposefully perform random acts of kindness until they become second nature, knowing that others may follow that lead and pass it on.
As part of the week-long celebration, area students were invited to participate in a Random Acts of Kindness drawing contest, with ribbons awarded to the top two drawings. The contest is an effort to get kids thinking about what constitutes an act of kindness, and how such acts make them feel. Each year, more than 1,000 drawings are entered into the contest.
By observing this special week, it is our hope that people take the initiative to commit some random acts of kindness and to become more conscientious of the needs of others.
Commit a random act of kindness today!
