Peper, McCoy conclude Nordic ski season at state

The two Card seniors finished 98th and 100th at Giants Ridge

Sarah Peper and Austin McCoy took in their first state experiences last Thursday with a trip to the Nordic skiing state meet at Giants Ridge in Biwabik.

Peper and McCoy both finished within the top 100 at the meet. Peper took 98th place with her pursuit time of 40:27.6. She finished the skate portion in 18:58, while completing the classic course in 21:29.6.

McCoy finished in 100th place. He wrapped up his high school career with a time of 34:11.8. His skate race time was 16:56. He completed his classic race in 17:16.

“Each served as great representatives for the Alexandria ski team and community,” head coach Steve Devereaux said. “They enjoyed seeing other skiers from our section and conference, while getting to share the course with the best skiers in the state.”

Both Peper and McCoy leave the Nordic ski team with the trip to state as their final memory. A lot of young talent will return next season as the Cardinals look to build off the 2009-2010 season.
