The Faction Board Shop in Alexandria has teamed up with Action Sports Ministries and the Alexandria Youth for Christ to present an indoor skateboard contest.

The Faction Board Shop in Alexandria has teamed up with Action Sports Ministries and the Alexandria Youth for Christ to present an indoor skateboard contest.

The event will take place at the Alexandria Armory on Saturday, February 20. There will be open skateboarding from 10 a.m. to noon and again from 3 to 5 p.m.

The contest will take place from noon to 3 p.m. and will consist of 60 runs, judged by best overall run.

There will be prizes for the top three in each division.

The cost to enter is $5 and includes a T-shirt, pizza and contest entry.

Jason Lybeck, owner of The Faction and event organizer, said the event is open to the public. He encourages parents to come out to see their kids skateboard and compete in the contest.

Last fall, a similar event was held and about 70 kids participated.

“We expect more this time since it’s winter and kids probably have some pent-up energy,” said Lybeck.
