Two evenings of music are set for Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20 at 4:30 p.m., as the Central Lakes Music Club hosts its annual Music Festival at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria.

More than 200 area youth and adults are slated to perform in the areas of vocal, piano, strings and woodwind music. These performances are rated by a judge and receive a rating score, which accumulates through the years, giving students the opportunity to earn a gold cup.

Similar music festivals are held across the country by music clubs affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs. The Central Lakes Music Club is affiliated with the Federation of Music Clubs at both the national and state levels.

Students in the event are represented by these teachers, who also organize and host the event: Ruth Aaseng, Kelly Albrecht, Eliza Anderson, Carol Andstrom, Barbara Ask, Marcia Benson, Diane Braud, Dawn Carlson, Kjersten Cook, Karen Erickson, Karen Graf, Mercedes Hagen, Annette Helder, Lynette Holm, Roxanne Klemetson, Denise Larson, Marlene Larson, Leila Preston, Stephanie Thoen, Rebecca Worley and Kristi Wussow.
