Letter - Why spend tax dollars to create jobs?

I keep hearing from this administration that they want to use a stimulus package to create jobs. Why do we have to spend tax dollars to create jobs?

To the editor:

I keep hearing from this administration that they want to use a stimulus package to create jobs. Why do we have to spend tax dollars to create jobs? The jobs that are created by the government usually end up being short-term jobs that have to be picked up by local governments after the federal dollars run dry. I don’t believe this is the way for us to solve our jobs problem.

Another idea I hear to solve the problem is to shut off all the imports for goods that are manufactured outside the country. Can you imagine if we told China that we are no longer going to buy from them?

What I seldom hear is that if we just would do a little sacrificing of our own and buy American we could solve our problems in a hurry without using tax dollars to do it. If we bought American-made products, we wouldn’t have enough employees in this country to fill the positions. This is what would help fix our economy.

Maybe we need to look in a mirror and ask ourselves, “Are you part of the problem?” Unless we bite the bullet and buy American, we are going to be taken over by another government sooner than you think. Is this what we want for our kids? Think about it!
