DuWayne “Duke” Maurice Anderson, 72, Evansville, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
DuWayne was born July 23, 1937 in Evansville to George and Lucile Anderson. Duke grew up in Evansville and graduated from Evansville High School. After working in Minneapolis for two years he moved back to Evansville, where he worked at Douglas Co. Land Corporation for 51 years. Duke was self-employed as a farmer and brick layer. He continued farming and raising cattle up until his death. He was united in marriage to Carol Higgins. In 1981, Duke was united in marriage to Janet Swenson.
Duke enjoyed working and raising his cattle. He enjoyed being outdoors and was an outdoor man’s man and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Evansville Sportsman Club, the Christina, Ina and Anka Lake Association.
Duke is survived by his wife, Janet Anderson of Evansville; children, David (Kim) Anderson of Isanti, Robbie Anderson of Melby, Lisa (Rick) Reger of Battle Lake, Dawn Swenson (Todd Herz) of Grand Forks, ND, Peggy Anderson of Hopkins and Johnna (Dan) Nynas of Fridley; five grandchildren, Joshua and Amanda Anderson, Ryenn Shaw, Samantha and Alexis Reger. He is also survived by two brothers, Gary (LuAnn) Anderson of Evansville and Bruce (Pat) Anderson of Bemidji.
Duke was preceded in death by his parents; son, Roger Anderson; and a sister, Betty Larson.
Services were held Friday, January 29 at St. Petri Lutheran Church in rural Brandon with the Rev. David Gran officiating. There will be a spring burial at Eagle Lake Lutheran Cemetery in rural Battle Lake.
