Friday, February 19, is the date for United Way’s 2010 Beer and Wine Tasting Gala at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center. The event is set to run from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
A fabulous selection of wines from around the world will be available for sampling as well as a variety of specialty beers. Last year’s event featured 36 varieties of beers and wines and offered an opportunity to learn about each beverage, as well as the foods to serve with them.
With Michelob as this year’s sponsor, the United Way is looking forward to an expanded event.
Light hors d’oeuvres will be served at the event. Music will be provided by the local duo of Terry Kennedy and Al Lieffort from Emergency Stop.
Advance tickets are $20 per person prior to February 17 and will be available at the United Way Office by calling (320) 763-4840 or by stopping at the office at 115 Third Avenue West in Alexandria.
After February 17, tickets will be $25. All proceeds from the Beer and Wine Tasting Gala will support the 2009/2010 United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties Campaign.
United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. These are the building blocks for a good life and a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement and good health.
The United Way’s goal is to create long lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place. The organization invites the public to be a part of the change.
