A free women’s self-defense course will be held Friday, February 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Lakes Area Recreation auxiliary room.

Josh Waltzing from the Schutz Martial Arts Association will teach participants to avoid potentially dangerous situations before they turn ugly. Waltzing is a student and instructor with more than 12 years of experience in the martial arts and holds a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He is also a teacher licensed by the State of Minnesota in secondary level education.

He will teach a proven prevention method for stopping violent crime before it starts as well as tactics and techniques to use in case a violent situation catches you unaware.

The method is described as “no-nonsense self-defense,” as it does not require a martial arts or military background to be successful.

The course is free and open to all women older than 14 but is restricted to the first 40 registrants because of space limitations. Donations will be accepted to support Someplace Safe of Douglas County.

To register or for information, call Waltzing at (320) 761-9008 or e-mail mrjosh.waltzing@gmail.com.
