Currently, the overall blood supply is sufficient, but type O negative blood supplies have dropped to emergency levels – less than a one-day supply. Your help is needed to increase the supply going forward and bring type O negative blood supplies back to sufficient levels.

The Red Cross counts on blood drives and donations to ensure a stable and consistent supply for patients at local hospitals as well as throughout the country.

There will be a blood drive in Brandon on February 1 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Brandon Village Hall. If you would like to donate, you are encouraged to make an appointment, but walk-ins are welcome.

If you have type O negative, you are really encouraged to donate that day. If you are interested in doing double red cells, the Red Cross will have two machines on hand that day.

Appointments can be made by calling Pat Freese at (320) 524-2226.
