Training will take place Saturday, March 27 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Alexandria Technical College (ATC), Room 794. Instructor for the training will be Scott Stumpf.

Participants will learn about Minnesota statutes governing permits to carry; handgun basics including care and maintenance; types of ammunition, handgun safety, shooting positions, and use of deadly force scenarios.

Participants will spend time on the college’s shooting/use of force simulator, which will put them in simulated use of deadly force situations. Live fire shooting will be conducted in the new indoor range.

Upon completion of the course, the actual permit will need to be purchased at the sheriff’s office.
