Signs of peace: Peace poster exhibit and more planned at Parkers Prairie Event Center this Saturday

The Parkers Prairie Lions Club is proud to present its Peace Poster Contest winners in an exhibit slated for this Saturday, January 23.

The Parkers Prairie Lions Club is proud to present its Peace Poster Contest winners in an exhibit slated for this Saturday, January 23.

The Peace Poster exhibit will be open for public viewing from 2 to 7 p.m. this Saturday at the Parkers Prairie Event Center.

Besides the exhibit, there will also be entertainment, including performances by local talents – David Carroll, Dennis Amundson, Just for Kix dancers and a few high school students.

There will also be food, desserts and refreshments available. Monetary donations are appreciated and organizers are asking for donations for the food shelf.

Each year, Lions International promotes the Peace Poster Contest, which involves approximately 350,000 children ages 11 through 13 in 70 countries around the world.

This year’s contest theme was “Peace Begins With Me.” All 25 merit award winners will be on display.

In addition, there will be informational booths set up on community services, including hospice, public health, Lions Eye Bank, eye and diabetes screening, financial planning, nursing home care planning, funeral planning, as well as service clubs and more.
