St. Agnes Catholic School in Osakis is hosting a fundraiser next Saturday, January 16, which will feature the musical talent of Skilly and Duff.
The theme for this year’s fundraiser is “Songs and stories to warm your heart on a cold winter’s night,” according to St. Agnes Principal Tammy Boushek.
The fundraiser will take place in the auditorium at Osakis High School starting at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.
The award-winning Irish quartet of Skilly and Duff includes Mikko Cowdery from Osakis, Bruce Kelly and Anne O’Flynn from Elbow Lake and Sam Steidl from Alexandria. Others who will be performing at the fundraiser include Brett Cowdery of Osakis, Chuck and Michelle Wencl of Alexandria and Lily Satterlee of Sauk Centre.
This past summer, the Skilly and Duff quartet took first place in the Minnesota Irish Flair music competition. After that, three of the members did a musical tour of Ireland, playing music in Irish pubs.
They brought back a lot of new material, both in songs and stories, said Mikko Cowdery, member of the group.
In addition to the music of Skilly and Duff and friends, the fundraiser will be featuring the popular St. Agnes dance troupe, which reportedly charmed audiences at last year’s show.
The dancers, who are coached by Tonya Hetland, include Kylie Anderson, Miranda Petrich, Alexis Witt, Laynee Hartshorn, Kessie Kulzer, Carli Schmidt and Elli Clasemann.
