An early arrival

Colten and Mandy Steidl of Carlos never imagined that they would have the first Douglas County baby born in 2010.

Colten and Mandy Steidl of Carlos never imagined that they would have the first Douglas County baby born in 2010. Mandy wasn’t due until January 26 and the couple assumed their first child would be born sometime closer to February. But when Mandy went into labor on Saturday, January 2, they were told the baby was breech and had to be delivered that day. Liberty Ann Steidl arrived by C-section at Douglas County Hospital on January 2 at 10 a.m. The couple’s first child, she weighed in at 6 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 inches long. Mandy, a licensed practical nurse, and Colten, an employee at Brenton engineering have one hope for their baby girl – “a long, happy, healthy life.” Liberty’s grandparents are Sara and Al Sibell of Alexandria, Bob and Bonnie Steidl of Alexandria, and Lisa Horstmann of Marshall.
