American Red Cross celebrates National Blood Donor Month

“During National Blood Donor Month, I’d like to thank all of our dedicated blood donors,” said Geoff Kaufmann, CEO of the local Red Cross Blood Services region. “Your donation is so much greater than a pint of blood – it is a gift of hope to a patient in need.”

Douglas County:
•January 7, 1:30 to 7:30 p.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 411 Hawthorne Street, Alexandria.
•January 8, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 411 Hawthorne Street, Alexandria.
Pope County:
•January 12, 12:30 to 6:30 p.m., Minnewaska High School, 3330 West Highway 28, Glenwood.
•January 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Glenwood Lutheran Church, 206 Minnesota Avenue East, Glenwood.

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Eligible donors must be at least 17 years old, must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.
