A fish house fell through the ice on Long Lake 10 miles southeast of Long Prairie Thursday.

The Todd County Sheriff’s Office received the report at 4:17 a.m.

The fish house, a 16-foot manufactured unit owned by Daniel Fruechte of Swanville, sank through about nine inches of ice, according to authorities.

Only the rear portion broke through while the front remained suspended on the ice.

The fish house had been on the lake for about two days before the incident.

Fruechte told the sheriff’s office that he would allow the ice to thicken around the fish house before removing it.

The fish house is valued at about $15,000.
