Free Christmas dinner set at First Congregational Church

First Congregational United Church of Christ in Alexandria will host its 17th annual free community Christmas dinner on Friday, December 25.

First Congregational United Church of Christ in Alexandria will host its 17th annual free community Christmas dinner on Friday, December 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for anyone who might be alone Christmas day. It will be held in the fellowship hall of the church, which is located at the corner of 7th Avenue West and Elm Street.

The menu will include meatballs, ham, potatoes, corn, rolls, salad and dessert. A bag of homemade cookies will be given to diners to take home. Carry-out dinners are available for those who have a family member or friend who are unable to come to the church.

With the support of area businesses, other churches and members of the community, there is no cost to the diner. A freewill offering will be received; proceeds beyond the cost of the dinner will be donated to the Douglas County Food Shelf.

Transportation will be available in the Alexandria area. To reserve a ride, call the church office at (320) 763-3341 by noon on December 24.

Reservations for the dinner would be helpful in planning and preparing the meal. For information or to make a reservation, call 763-3341 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays.
