Fire damages home near Hoffman

A house fire near Hoffman early this morning caused damage.
Ritchie LaVern Johnson called 911 shortly after 1 a.m. to report that his house at 3011 Island Road SW in Urness Township was on fire.
Flames from a wood-burning stove inside the home caused the fire. Johnson was able to douse the flames before the Hoffman Fire Department arrived on scene.
Firefighters removed a portion of the wall and roof to completely extinguish any hot spots, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The Kensington Fire Department was also called for mutual aid.
