Home, belongings destroyed in fire

A local family lost their home and belongings in a fire December 8. The house fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. at the home of Eric and Deborah Stelling, 13244 165th Avenue, Sauk Centre.

A local family lost their home and belongings in a fire December 8.

The house fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. at the home of Eric and Deborah Stelling, 13244 165th Avenue, Sauk Centre.

When fire departments from Sauk Centre and Osakis arrived on scene, they found the house fully engulfed in flames.

The house was a total loss, according to the Todd County Sheriff’s Office.

No one was home when the blaze started and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Once word got out about the loss people have been scrambling to do their part.

In just days after the fire, the family found a house to live in and received an abundance of clothes.

In addition, the family was contacted by the Alexandria Jaycees members, who put in a basket request for Jingle Bells and put their name in the hardship fund requests for 2010.

Any donations are greatly appreciated, in the form of gift cards, certificates, checks and cash.

Giving funds hav been started at First National Bank of Osakis and Bremer Bank in Alexandria.
