Give some hope - donate blood

Blood donation. It’s the priceless gift of hope. By making an appointment to donate blood through the American Red Cross this holiday season, you not only give someone hope – you help save lives, too.

Blood donation. It’s the priceless gift of hope. By making an appointment to donate blood through the American Red Cross this holiday season, you not only give someone hope – you help save lives, too.

“By donating blood, you can help ensure a sufficient blood supply for the holiday season,” said Geoff Kaufmann, CEO of the local Red Cross Blood Services region. “The best part is that you can give this gift year round – every 56 days days to be exact – and it doesn’t cost you anything except time.”

Upcoming blood donation opportunities include:

•December 15, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Armory, 311 Broadway, Alexandria.

To donate blood, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543) or visit givebloodgivelife.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients.

A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals must be 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. High school students and other donors younger than 19 also have to meet certain eight and weight requirements.
