Willmar's new Northwoods League baseball team get nickname

After sifting through more than 800 entries in the naming contest for the new Northwoods League franchise baseball baseball team in Willmar, Bob Malmgren's entry - the Stingers - was chosen. He received a pair of lifetime season passes for his entry.

The Willmar Stingers logo, a slugging bee behind the Stingers name in script and the Willmar name in block below, was designed by Justin Schaller, a graphics designer from Eau Claire, Wisconsin. This is Schaller's fifth logo created for the Northwoods League.

The team colors will be black and yellow.

Co-owners and business managers of the team are Marc Jerzak and Ryan Voz. Vos had previously served as general manager for the Alexandria Beetles before moving on to serve as president of the St. Cloud River Bats.
