The Area 4 Special Olympics bowling competition was held at Garden Center Lanes in Alexandria recently, with 11 teams from around the state participating.

A number of Alexandria athletes took home top honors from the event. A total of 21 took first-place honors in their division, while 12 local athletes took home second-place finishes.

The Alexandria team is coached by Carol Feldmann, Kari Kiesner, Lynn Staples, Joan Iverson, Linda Mulder and a number of group home workers.

Those volunteering their time to make the Area 4 Special Olympics possible included the Golden “K” Club, Kiwanis Club, Sertoma Club, Women’s Club, the Blizzard hockey team, Retired Educators, Eagles Auxiliary, and friends of Special Olympics.
