John Whelan, 75

John J. Whelan, age 75, died November 10, 2009 in Minneapolis.

He was born May 25, 1934 and graduated from Alexandria Central High School in 1952. In 1957 he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in agricultural business administration.

After a brief stint of employment with Lakeside Pharmaceuticals, John established Century Roofing and Superior Roofing and Construction Companies. He managed the two companies for the next 50 years.

He was an avid sportsman, fishing in Canada several times a year and hunting in several states. Moose hunting was his favorite, with many bagged during hunts in Newfoundland.

Memorial services for John were held November 14 at the Cremation Society Chapel in Minneapolis with Pastor Morris Ulring officiating.
