Indoor soccer

The Alexandria YMCA is offering indoor soccer for pre-kindergarten through kindergarten and 1st through 2nd graders on Saturday mornings beginning November 21 at Luther Crest Bible Camp.

Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten players will meet from 9:30-10:15 a.m., while the 1st and 2nd grade players will meet from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Cost for the younger players is $25.50 and for the older players is $33.

The registration also includes a T-shirt and medals.

First Pitch Banquet at SCSU

Former Alexandrian Denny Lorsung will be honored by St. Cloud State University at the third annual First Pitch Baseball banquet Saturday, January 16 at the Kelly Inn in St. Cloud

Lorsung, a Jefferson High School graduate, is the former SCSU head baseball coach. He will be honored for his contributions to the program.

Lorsung played college baseball for the Huskies and later served as head coach from 1979 to 2006.

He owns the school record for the most career wins at 546.

Williams on BSU hockey team

Alexandria graduate Abby Williams has transferred from Minnesota State University-Mankato to Bemidji State University and will sit out the 2009-2010 hockey season as a redshirt transfer.

She is majoring in Spanish education.

Kandiyohi 3-on-3 tourney

The annual Kandiyohi County YMCA 3-on-3 Holiday Basketball Tourney for boys and girls will be held on the following dates:

December 28 – 8th grade boys and girls.

December 29 – 7th grade boys and girls.

December 30 – 6th grade boys and girls.

Entry fee includes T-shirts, awards, special contests and at least three games.

Youth baseball clinic at SCSU

The St. Cloud State University baseball coaching staff and other area coaches are sponsoring the 3rd annual “Starz of Tomorrow” holiday baseball camp for players in grades 8-12.

The camp will run Monday-Wednesday, December 28-30. Cost is $100 for commuter camp and $125 for overnight campers. The camp will be at the SCSU Husky Dome with overnight campers staying at the Grandstay Residential Suites.

Camp enrollment is limited. Deadline is December 15 or when filled.

New Skater program at RCC

The Alexandria Figure Skating Club is holding a new skater program November 14, 21, and December 12 and 19 from 9-9:45 a.m. at the Runestone Community Center West rink.

This program is for new skaters only. There are no fees or forms, just come and skate.

Boys’ swimming practice

Cardinal boys’ varsity and junior varsity swimming and diving practice will begin Monday, November 30, running from 3-6 p.m. at the Discovery Middle School pool.

The parent/player meeting is the same day at 6:30 p.m. in the DMS choir room.

Before being able to practice, athletes must pick up eligibility forms from their respective school, complete them and return them with a paid participation fee.

Fargo South girls’ basketball tourney

The 18th annual Fargo South Basketball Tournament for girls in grades 4-8 will be held March 20-21, 2010.

There will be two divisions, A and B, with a three-game guarantee.

Entry fee is $135. Certified officials will be used.

Entry deadline is March 12.

Basketball tourney in Montevideo

Montevideo will host a 5th-8th grade girls’ and boys’ basketball tournament on Saturday, March 10. Entry fee is $125 per team.

There will also be a 4th grade girls’ and boys’ basketball jamboree on Friday, March 19. Entry fee is $60 per team.
