Lesnar hospitalized with sickness

Alexandria resident and current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar continues to have to overcome obstacles to try and get back into the octagon.

Alexandria resident and current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar continues to have to overcome obstacles to try and get back into the octagon.

UFC President Dana White recently said that Lesnar was hospitalized and is recovering from a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract. Lesnar was previously diagnosed with mononucleosis, which caused him to call off his scheduled fight against Shane Carwin after he could not train for weeks.

White said that the sickness that Lesnar is dealing will keep him out of competition for the foreseeable future.

“He doesn’t want to talk about it publicly, but he’s in bad shape,” White said while talking to the media after UFC 105. “He’s not well and he’s not going to be getting well anytime soon.”

White could not get into the specifics of Lesnar’s sickness but said he was concerned and would do what he could to help him through this.

“We’re going to have to send him to the Mayo Clinic or to Scripps, or one of those really good hospitals to figure out what’s wrong with this guy,” he said.
