Seventh graders from Discovery Middle School in Alexandria took part in a respect retreat last week at Luther Crest Camp, located on Lake Carlos. Half of the class attended Wednesday and half on Thursday. The retreat focused on defining respect and encouraging its formation for both self and others. It included activities that featured the interaction of 7th graders with high school leaders who represented Serve Lead Act Motivate (SLAM). In this activity, called people to people, the students linked arms with a partner, mimicked the activity of the person in the center and then ran to the middle and exchanged partners.
