Benefit set for Derreck Sorenson

A spaghetti supper and silent auction benefit for Derreck Sorenson will be held on Saturday, November 21.

A spaghetti supper and silent auction benefit for Derreck Sorenson will be held on Saturday, November 21 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garfield. Sorenson, a 16-year-old student at Jefferson High School in Alexandria, has been diagnosed with chronic renal failure. He is undergoing dialysis while awaiting a kidney transplant.

The supper will feature spaghetti, bread, brownies, coffee and lemonade. Donations are welcome for the auction.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3.50 for children 4 to 12. Supplemental funds will be provided by the Douglas County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

An account on Sorenson’s behalf has been established at Bremer Bank. Donations can be made payable to “St. John’s Lutheran Church: Derreck Sorenson benefit fund.”
