Panther girls will make first trip to state

The Parkers Prairie volleyball team will be heading to their first state tournament.

The Panthers, Section 6A-South champions, took on Norman County East, the winner in 6A-North on Saturday night at the University of Minnesota-Morris, winning 3-1.

Parkers Prairie, who defeated Brandon-Evansville in a five-game battle Thursday night to win 26-24, 19-25, 25-13, 23-25, 15-8, won in a four-game event just two days later 25-11, 21-25, 25-18, 25-14.

They will begin state tournament action on Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center at 3 p.m. and will face Minneota from Section 2, a team with a 26-5 record. Parkers Prairie has a 27-6-2 record this season.
