The Gulf Coast is still suffering from the effects of Hurricane Katrina. Recognizing the ongoing need for assistance in that area of the country, the “Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity” alliance is sending teams of volunteers to continue building homes for families in need.

Don Chan of Alexandria and his daughter, Laura, will be joining one of those teams to help make a difference there.

This will be the fourth volunteer trip to rebuild after hurricanes for Chan. Three of those trips have been to the Gulf Coast. His brother-in-law, Earl Kuhnau, has also been on all four trips. The ultimate goal is to help others rebuild homes and lives.

Chan will join a trip led by Larry Gebhardt, Lutheran relationship consultant with Thrivent Financial, leaving Saturday, November 14 for Ocean Springs, Mississippi, along with his daughter, Laura, John Johnson, Earl Kuhnau, Gale Eggers, the Rev. Ron and Christi Calvert, Harold and Kathy Withers, Vicki and daughter Katelyn Doehling, the Rev. Wade Meyer, Shirley Johnson, Jay Kulp and Nathan Corder.

The team plans to return on Sunday, November 22.
