The Alexandria girls’ JV swimming and diving Team beat Sartell on Friday night 81-76.
The Cards posted only four wins, but came from behind for the third time to overtake the Sabres with a 1-2 finish in the last race.
Individual winners for the Cardinals were Rachel Peterson taking the 200 free (2:22.47), Maddy Gorghuber, winning the 100 free (1:10.74), and Alycia Crowe, a the victor in the 500 free.
JV volleyball
The JV1 girls’ volleyball team played their last match of the season on Friday night at home against Brainerd, winning 25-17, 25-15, 15-12.
Kill leaders for the night were Brianna Johnson putting down nine kills and Laurel Thompson with six. Behind those kills were setters Quinn Kragenbring and Thompson with 11 and four set assists.
Defensively, Shanee Herd put up 16 digs for the night and Sam Brown had 10 digs.
Brown went 13-for-13 with one ace and nine points. Kragenbring was 10-for-10 with two aces and five points.
The JV finished the season 9-3 in the conference.
9th grade volleyball
The 9th grade volleyball team finished their great season strong with a 6-0 win over Brainerd as the A team won 25-15, 25-18, 15-10 and the B team won 15-13, 25-21, 15-12.
Leading the team were Danielle Strater with six aces, Hailey Haugen with five and Saige Glaser with four.
Erin Ann Schueler and Glaser each contributed four kills while Haugen and Jessica Burns each had three.
Nicole Canavati led the hitters with 12 ace assists.
Allie Noetzelman, Haugen and Kendra Engebretson together had 11 assists.
Jenni Wild had 14 ace digs and Jessica Burns had eight.
The 9th grade volleyball team ended their season undefeated in the Central Lakes Conference at 12, with a 13-1 overall record, losing only to Marshall.
The first annual 9th grade CLC volleyball tournament was held Saturday in Rocori.
The Alexandria 9th graders claimed the CLC title once again, playing six matches and winning each match.
