Patty Wicken of Alexandria received the Eagles “Citizen of the Year” award at the annual Eagles awards banquet held October 17.
Darlene Lucas, a past recipient of the award, presented Wicken with the award.
Other awards presented included “Mr. Eagle” to Robert Baumann, “Madam Eagle” to Molly Baumann, “Mr. and Mrs. Eagle” to Ken and Kitty Colgrove, “Aerie Past Service” to Joe Grunenwald and “Auxiliary Past Service” to Lil Grunenwald.
Each year, a committee of past award winners (of the last five years) meet and decide through a vote, who the next award winners will be.
The chairperson of this committee was Sy Lucas, a past recipient of the Mr. Eagle award.
The Eagles’ motto, “People Helping People,” plays a contributing factor in deciding whom the next award winners will be. Volunteers who spend their time and efforts, both at the Eagles club and in the community, are considered for these awards.
