Blizzard to face U.S. Women's Hockey team in exhibition

Olympian Jenny Potter of Edina will be part of the U.S. Women’s National Hockey team that will be in Alexandria Wednesday, October 28 to play in an exhibition game against the Alexandria Blizzard at the Runestone Community Center.

Olympian Jenny Potter of Edina will be part of the U.S. Women’s National Hockey team that will be in Alexandria Wednesday, October 28 to play in an exhibition game against the Alexandria Blizzard at the Runestone Community Center.

Potter, a member of the 1998, 2002 and 2006 Olympic Women’s teams, is a member of the 2009-10 team, along with Eagan native Natalie Darwitz, who was a member of the 2002 and 2006 Olympic teams.

Three other Minnesotans are on the squad as well – Rachael Drazan of Orono, Anie Keseley of St. Louis Park and Gigi Marvin of Warroad.

The U.S. Women’s National team, part of USA Hockey, is currently gearing up for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia February 12-28.

The team is coached by Mark Johnson and has had great success in recent years, finishing second in nearly every major tournament.

Tickets for the exhibition game went on sale Wednesday, October 21 and will be available through Wednesday, October 28.

Ticket prices are $6 for students and $9 for adults.

Groups can purchase tickets early for a discounted rate before October 26.

Game time is 7 p.m. and will be followed by an autograph session with the national team.
