Professional women to honor Knute Nelson, Prairie Lakes Dental

Lakes Area Professional Women (LAPW) proudly announces the Employers of the Year for 2009 as part of their Recognition Luncheon on Wednesday, October 21 at Broadway Ballroom.

Lakes Area Professional Women (LAPW) proudly announces the Employers of the Year for 2009 as part of their Recognition Luncheon on Wednesday, October 21 at Broadway Ballroom.

Knute Nelson has been selected in the Large Employer of the Year (25 employees or more) category. Prairie Lakes Dental has been selected in the Small Employer of the Year (25 or fewer employees) category.

The annual awards are given to recognize employers who make opportunities available to women employees. A sub-committee of local LAPW members reviews nominations. The selections are made based on the following criteria: how well the company promotes the advancement of women, promotes educational opportunities, utilizes creative company initiates sensitive to the needs of women, provides upward mobility and training, recruits, retains and develops women leaders, and develops guidelines for parental leave and dependent care, and demonstrates philanthropic support of the Alexandria area community.

During the event, the Professional Woman of the Year will also be announced. The Professional Woman of the Year award honors a member of the Lakes Area Professional Women who has distinguished herself in her career and community and is an advocate for women. Past Professional Women of the Year recipients select the honoree from nominations received from other members.
