Jimmy Jenson, the “Swingin’ Swede,” will perform at New Life Christian Church in Alexandria on Sunday, October 18 at 6 p.m.

Jenson is best known for his accordion music and humorous Scandinavian-style lyrics and has led bands that have performed country, swing, ballroom, calypso, Latin music, Dixieland and rock and roll.

Jenson has been playing music for more than half a century and has performed on radio shows, television and at his own supper club in Alexandria 40 years ago.

He has recorded seven albums and more than a dozen 45s. Three years ago, entertainers Bobby Vee, Marilyn Sellars and other distinguished entertainers awarded Jenson the Midwest Country Rock Music Hall of Fame’s Lifetime Achievement Award. This award honors those “who have given a major piece of their life to the support and continuation of the music, bands, ballrooms and clubs.”

Jenson continues to entertain audiences today, mainly in Minnesota and North Dakota. This past spring he recorded a gospel CD.
