There’s a new opportunity available for area musicians. A community orchestra has been formed and is welcoming members.
The idea formed two years ago when area residents posed the idea of a community orchestra to Jefferson High School’s new orchestra director, Brad Lambrecht.
Lambrecht asked around to determine how much interest there was, and was overwhelmed by the response.
He developed a nonprofit organization called the Central Lakes Symphony Orchestra and established a board of directors, which includes Karen Erickson, Patrician Jensen, Sean Feezor and Lambrecht.
The orchestra is now ready to come together for the first time. Currently more than 50 people have voiced interest in being members of the group.
The first rehearsal is set for Tuesday, October 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the band room at Jefferson High School in Alexandria. Rehearsals will continue every Tuesday evening.
Lambrecht is hoping to do three performances during the group’s first season.
Anyone age 16 or older interested in being part of the group is welcome to attend rehearsal.
Donations are also being accepted to assist with rehearsal space rental, expenses associated with organizing a nonprofit, purchasing music rights, etc.
Donations may be sent to Central Lakes Symphony Orchestra, c/o Brad Lambrecht, 5692 Kaycee Lane, Garfield, MN 56332.
