More than 600 people turned up Tuesday for the United Way’s 12th annual Chili Cook Off.
This year’s prizes were awarded to Brenton Engineering for the hottest chili; Douglas County Hospital in the open division; Willy’s Roadside Café in the commercial division; YMCA-Young People’s Place for the most unusual chili; and Village Family Services for best display. 3M received a second place award and Arrowwood received honorable mention.
The coveted “People’s Choice” award was won by the Elder Network.
A total of 34 contestants entered the cook off, which is a major fundraising event for the United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties.
