A strike against illiteracy

The Echo Press “Strike Out Illiteracy” bowling tournament September 17 raised more than $4,500 in an effort to help supplement learning in area schools. The proceeds will go to the Newspapers in Education program, which places newspapers in area classrooms. Thirty teams registered for the second annual event, held at the Garden Center Lanes. Major sponsors of the program included Garden Center Lanes, Etc. Signs and Beverage Wholesalers.
