Crash near White Earth kills pregnant mother, two sons

Becker County Sheriff Tim Gordon said today, Monday, he doesn’t anticipate charges being filed in connection with a two-vehicle accident Friday that killed a pregnant mother and her two sons.

The victims were Cheyenne Norcross, 28, and her sons, Rock Keezer III, 3, and Keyian Keezer, 8 months, of Pine Point. Norcross was four months pregnant, according to family members.

Friday’s crash was reported about 11 a.m. and happened about three miles east of White Earth on Highway 34.

The sheriff’s department said the woman’s vehicle collided with a pickup truck pulling a construction trailer carrying a skid-steer loader.

David Canoy, 40, of rural Ogema, was the driver of the pickup, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Gordon said the ongoing investigation involves several entities: The Minnesota Department of Transportation’s commercial vehicle division is inspecting the truck and trailer, the State Patrol is reconstructing the collision and the sheriff’s department and White Earth police are gathering other forensic evidence.

Investigative reports will be forwarded to the county attorney for review, but no charges are anticipated, Gordon said.

“It appears that based on the evidence we have collected so far, just one of the vehicles drifted across the double yellow in the sweeping curve before the collision,” he said. “We’re waiting for the reconstruction of exactly where that collision occurred and who was at fault.”
