Sandra Marie Schiele, 67, Millerville, died peacefully September 12, 2009.

Sandi was born January 24, 1942 in Buffalo Center, Iowa, to Mervin and Edna (Tollagson) Lunning. She was raised and educated in that area.

On January 8, 1961, Sandi married Dennis Egeness. To this marriage three children were born, Brenda, Bill and Cyndi. They made their home in Clarissa.

On November 19, 1988, Sandi was united in marriage to Wally Schiele. They lived in Brandon until 2000 when they moved to a lake home north of Millerville. They ran Schiele Auction Service and Sandi’s Concessions out of their home until Wally obtained the Brandon Mini Mall and converted it into an auction center where Sandi continued to run her concession stand. In earlier years, Sandi worked as a teacher’s aid and certified nurse’s aid.

Sandi enjoyed flower gardening and had a green thumb that could make anything grow and bloom with vibrancy and beauty. She also loved making crafts, painting ceramics, sewing and baking. She especially loved to bake her renowned Christmas cutout cookies. These were always everyone’s favorite. One of the secrets to that recipe was Millerville butter.

Sandi was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Millerville and a previous member of Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon. She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hatters Club and the Urbank Lioness Club. She enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren. She loved to attend school functions and ball games in which they participated.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Doug; and sister, Janet.

Sandi is survived by her husband, Wally, of Millerville; daughter, Brenda (Egeness) Doebber of Lakeville, son, Bill Egeness and wife, Tanya of Eagle Bend, daughter, Cyndi (Egeness) Hagfors and husband, Denis of West Union; four stepchildren, Trever Schiele and wife, Stacey of Brandon, Tabatha Streich (Schiele) and husband, Chad of Alexandria, Tyra Schiele of Bloomington, and Tyler Schiele and wife, Kimberly of Guernsey, WY; 15 grandchildren, Dustin and Heidi Doebber, Devon and Taalyr Egeness, Stephanie and Dan Hagfors, Seth Kellen, Makayla, Elizabeth and Keagan Schiele, Jemma, Jada and Jessa Streich, Juliana and Jacelyn Schiele; and her great-granddaughter, London Marie Shanks. Sandi is also survived by her two siblings, Cheryl Hayes and Dennis Lunning; and many nieces and nephews.

A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, she will be sadly missed by all.

A funeral service was held September 16 at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon with the Rev. Ed Borchardt officiating. Music was provided by organist, Diane Alveshere and soloists, Debra Schiele, Beverley Runningen and Denise Norberg. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Millerville Township, Douglas County. Casket bearers were Dustin Doebber, Heidi Doebber, Devon Egeness, Taalyr Egeness, Dan Hagfors and Stephanie Hagfors. Honorary casket bearers were all of Sandi’s grandchildren and great-grandchild.
