Session will offer workplace safety tips

The Alexandria Technical College and United Communities Advocating Non-Violence (UCAN) will host a workplace training session, “Be Your Own Bodyguard – Techniques for the Workplace and Beyond.”

The Alexandria Technical College and United Communities Advocating Non-Violence (UCAN) will host a workplace training session, “Be Your Own Bodyguard – Techniques for the Workplace and Beyond.” It will take place Thursday, September 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Alexandria Technical College, Room 208.

Fee for this session is $25 per company or $5 per person.

Instances of workplace violence are committed by customers, strangers and disgruntled employees. You may be prepared at work, but are you prepared to deal with the disgruntled person outside the work environment, i.e., the grocery store, home, church, etc.?

This workshop will cover personal safety security tips and verbal judo techniques to assist you in defusing the confrontation. Personal safety tips will be discussed on how to protect yourself at home, the street and the workplace.

The presenter is Captain Scott Kent. He has been in law enforcement for more than 12 years and with the Alexandria Police Department since 2001.
