Legion holds organizational meeting

American Legion Post 87 will hold an organizational meeting of the Sons of the American Legion (SAL) Squadron #87 on Saturday, September 19 from 1 to 4 p.m.

American Legion Post 87 will hold an organizational meeting of the Sons of the American Legion (SAL) Squadron #87 on Saturday, September 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. The meeting will include election of officers, general details and discussion of procedures for conducting meetings.

SAL was created in 1932 as an organization within the American Legion. It is made up of men and boys of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the United States military and became eligible for membership in the American Legion.

Together, members of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary and SAL make up the Legion Family. All three organizations place importance on preserving American traditions and values, improving the quality of life for U.S. children, caring for veterans and their families, and teaching the fundamentals of good citizenship. Each SAL squadron is permitted flexibility in planning programs and activities to meet its own needs.

SAL State Commander Bill Peters, along with some of his officers, will be here to help the squadron become operational.

For more information or to join, call Ken Voigt, adjutant, Post #87, at (320) 763-8567.
