To the editor:
The Central Lakes Peaceline will be holding an old-fashioned peace rally in Alexandria on Sunday, September 13 and welcome anyone who wishes for peace in the lives of children everywhere. Individuals and groups from the community will be sharing literature, poems and inspiration interspersed with musicians performing songs of peace.
The program will also feature a relief wood carving entitled “Solidarity,” sculpted by Sister Mary Anne Osborne, School Sisters of Notre Dame. The carving will be on display beforehand and an interpretive narration will be part of the program.
The old-fashioned peace rally is a non-denominational, non-partisan gathering for all those who wish to share the hope of a new tomorrow. World peace has inspired human dreams for as long as there have been wars. Those attending are invited to bring or wear encouragements of flowers.
The old-fashioned peace rally will be held September 13 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 2210 East 6th Avenue in Alexandria. The Central Lakes Peaceline welcomes all, regardless of race, creed, color or party affiliation. All are welcome to come in peace, to hope for peace, and to dream of peace.
